Mechanical properties of graphene [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Reviews, 2021
This paper reviews the mechanical properties of graphene with particular attention to what is established and what is still uncertain. It clarifies the thickness and the elastic constants, and by also considering also phonon frequencies, it argues that “best values” come from graphite, when available.

Mechanical Properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This chapter report the most recent experimental results on mechanical behaviour at high temperature of high-performance concretes. After a short introduction, Sect. 5.2 describes the main testing methods that were used in the analysed studies. Section 5.3 collects and compares the temperature-dependency of the compressive strength and modulus of ...

Tempforming as an Advanced Processing Method for Carbon Steels

open access: yesMetals, 2020
The microstructural mechanisms providing delamination toughness in high-strength low-alloyed steels are briefly reviewed. Thermo-mechanical processing methods improving both the strength and impact toughness are described, with a close relation to the ...

The Evolution of Abnormal Grains during the Heating Stage of a Post-Weld Solution Treatment in a Friction-Stir-Welded 2519 Aluminium Alloy

open access: yesMetals, 2023
This work presents an in-depth investigation of the early stages of abnormal grain growth (AGG) in a friction-stir-welded (FSWed) 2519-T820 aluminium alloy. Microstructural evolutions, which occurred during the heating stage of a solution heat treatment (

Microstructural Evolution of a Re-Containing 10% Cr-3Co-3W Steel during Creep at Elevated Temperature

open access: yesMetals, 2023
Ten percent Cr steels are considered to be prospective materials for the production of pipes, tubes, and blades in coal-fired power plants, which are able to operate within ultra-supercritical steam parameters.

Microstructural Evolution and Material Flow during Friction Stir Welding of 6013 Aluminum Alloy Studied by the Stop-Action Technique

open access: yesMetals, 2023
This work is part of a wide-ranging study aiming to enhance the technology of dissimilar friction-stir welding of aluminum and titanium. In the previous study, a new approach was proposed that provided an exceptionally narrow intermetallic layer. However,

The Mechanical Properties of Nanowires [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2017
Applications of nanowires into future generation nanodevices require a complete understanding of the mechanical properties of the nanowires. A great research effort has been made in the past two decades to understand the deformation physics and mechanical behaviors of nanowires, and to interpret the discrepancies between experimental measurements and ...

Dynamically Recrystallized Microstructures, Textures, and Tensile Properties of a Hot Worked High-Mn Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2019
The deformation microstructures and mechanical properties were studied in a high-Mn steel subjected to hot compression. The deformation microstructures resulted from the development of dynamic recrystallization (DRX).
