Adobe bricks reinforced with paper & pulp wastes improving thermal and mechanical properties

, 2020
Soil-based building material has been used since ancient times but lately it has been mainly considered for restoration purposes of traditional architecture instead of an eco-friendly construction material for new buildings.

Immune Defense Mechanisms of the Dental Pulp

Critical Reviews in Oral Biology & Medicine, 1998
Defense reactions of the dentin/pulp complex involve a variety of biological systems, in which the immune system plays a pivotal role. The knowledge of the organization and function of pulpal immunocompetent cells has been sparse, but in recent years a significant body of information of immune mechanisms in general has provided a footing for ...

Bio-inspired lightweight pulp foams with improved mechanical property and flame retardancy via borate cross-linking

Chemical Engineering Journal, 2019
The ultra-lightweight and porous cellulose foam can be used in a broad range of applications (e.g. structural materials, sound insulation, thermal insulation), but the demands for high strength and fire-retardant properties are still challenges for the ...

Bioactive films of arrowroot starch and blackberry pulp: Physical, mechanical and barrier properties and stability to pH and sterilization.

Food Chemistry, 2019
The influence of the incorporation of blackberry pulp on properties of arrowroot starch films has been studied. The blackberry pulp transferred bioactive compounds, antioxidant capacity and color to arrowroot starch films. Increasing the concentration of

Bio-polyethylene reinforced with thermomechanical pulp fibers: Mechanical and micromechanical characterization and its application in 3D-printing by fused deposition modelling

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2018
Two biobased polyethylenes (BioPE) and thermomechanical pulp (TMP) fibers were used to produce biocomposites. The impact of TMP fibers on the mechanical properties was assessed in detail.

Mechanical activation and characterization of micronized cellulose particles from pulp fiber

, 2019
Ball milling has been widely used for cellulosic fiber pulverization and de-crystallization, but most of the previous milling studies are focused on the micro-structural change and crystallinity reduction of cellulose, few of them have evaluated the ...

Mechanical stress induced S100A7 expression in human dental pulp cells to augment osteoclast differentiation.

Oral Diseases, 2019
OBJECTIVES Mechanical injury of dental pulp leads to root resorption by osteoclasts/odontoclasts. S100 proteins have been demonstrated to be involved in inflammatory processes and bone remodeling.

The Mechanism of Hornification of Wood Pulps

Trans. of the Xth Fund. Res. Symp. Oxford, 1993, 1993
Hornification is the loss of swelling of the fibre wall resulting from a drying-and-rewetting cycle: it is associated with a stiffening of the fibres which reduces their ability to form inter-fibre bonds. In this paper, factors affecting the extent of hornification are examined using the solute exclusion technique to measure swelling.
