Physical Review E, 2015Recently, there has been growing interest in the electrical properties of bacteriorhodopsin (bR), a protein belonging to the transmembrane protein family. Several experiments pointed out the role of green light in enhancing the current flow in nanolayers of bR, thus confirming potential applications of this protein in the field of optoelectronics.

The Mechanisms Responsible for the Urge to Defecate
Gastroenterology, 1957Summary The urge to defecate was studied in 49 patients ranging in age from 23 to 71. By means of 2 tandem intra-rectal balloons connected to tambours, motility was studied as the rectum was progressively distended and as patients reported their urges to defecate. Rectal distention appeared to elicit urges when it stimulated rectal contractions.
