Vibration responsive mechanism
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1981A vibration responsive mechanism having a weight suspension rod pendulum which falls in response to the vibration of a base body. The mechanism comprises a responsive disc secured to said rod normally and coaxially and support balls which contact with and bear against the periphery of the disc, individual set of radial guide races having a biasing ...

Mechanics of innovative responsive polymers
Mechanics Research Communications, 2019Abstract The study of responsive structural systems and materials, whose main aim is the development of so-called smart devices capable of autonomously respond to external stimuli with some desired detectable reaction, is nowadays a very attractive research field.

Mechanisms to Explain Surfactant Responses
Neonatology, 2006Surfactant is now standard of care for infants with respiratory distress syndrome. Surfactant treatments are effective because of complex metabolic interactions between surfactant and the preterm lung. The large treatment dose functions as substrate; it is taken up by the preterm lung and is reprocessed and secreted with improved function.

Electrical and Mechanical Response in Biventricular Mechanical Alternans
Archives Internationales de Physiologie et de Biochimie, 1979Mechanical alternans of various degrees is produced by rapid heart rates, slower rates in failing hearts and can be brought about by a single extra systole. It has also been shown that the two ventricles may exhibit different degrees of mechanical alternation.

Cell Mechanics: Integrating Cell Responses to Mechanical Stimuli
Annual Review of Biomedical Engineering, 2007Forces are increasingly recognized as major regulators of cell structure and function, and the mechanical properties of cells are essential to the mechanisms by which cells sense forces, transmit them to the cell interior or to other cells, and transduce them into chemical signals that impact a spectrum of cellular responses.

Pulmonary mechanical responses to cholinesterase inhibitor
Fundamental and Applied Toxicology, 1989Lung static and dynamic compliances, and lung and upper airway resistances were measured in pentobarbital-anesthetized dogs before and after intravenous administration of 2 LD50 of the organophosphate cholinesterase inhibitor pinacolyl methylphosphonofluoridate (GD), followed by 1 mg of atropine 8 min later.

Leucodepletion and immune response mechanisms
Vox Sanguinis, 2004The recipient and donor mechanisms responsible for mediat-ing alloimmunity and immunomodulation during bloodtransfusions are complex and most probably superimposedthus creating multilevel fields of potential interaction andregulation. For example, at the recipient level, both the innateand adaptive immune systems can be significantly affectedby various ...
