Experimental Investigation of a Mechanically Stable and Temperature/Salinity Tolerant Biopolymer toward Enhanced Oil Recovery Application in Harsh Condition Reservoirs

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
In search of robust polymers for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) application in reservoirs with harsh conditions, a water-soluble biopolymer was thoroughly investigated in this work to evaluate its applicability in such reservoirs.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Influence of liquid film thickness on bearing characteristics of magnetic-liquid suspension guide-way

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2018
The magnetic-liquid suspension guide-way (MLSG) adopts the double support form of permanent magnetic suspension and hydrostatic pressure. It can greatly enhance the bearing capacity and rigidity of the guide-way system.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Numerical investigations on the sabots discard process of an APFSDS at different angles of attack

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2018
Sabot asymmetric discard after the projectile being launched from the muzzle at various angles of attack and 4Ma is investigated. This is implemented by the coupling computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and six degrees-of-freedom exterior ballistic code ...

Semi‐Planar Non‐Fullerene Molecules Enhance the Durability of Flexible Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2022
Flexible perovskite solar cells (FPSCs) represent a promising technology in the development of next‐generation photovoltaic and optoelectronic devices. SnO2 electron transport layers (ETL) typically undergo significant cracking during the bending process

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Assessment of the Mechanical Quality of Structural Steels by their Ability to Resist Brittle Fracture at Uniaxial Tension

open access: yesМеханика машин, механизмов и материалов, 2014
Theory on possibility to evaluate mechanical quality of structural steels as their possibility to resist brittle fracture is presented. It is exhibited that characteristic of mechanical stability Kms developed earlier can be used for this purpose ...
