Transformer-Based Self-Supervised Learning for Histopathological Classification of Ischemic Stroke Clot Origin [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Background and Purpose: Identifying the thromboembolism source in ischemic stroke is crucial for treatment and secondary prevention yet is often undetermined. This study describes a self-supervised deep learning approach in digital pathology of emboli for classifying ischemic stroke clot origin from histopathological images.

ISLES'24: Improving final infarct prediction in ischemic stroke using multimodal imaging and clinical data [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Accurate estimation of core (irreversibly damaged tissue) and penumbra (salvageable tissue) volumes is essential for ischemic stroke treatment decisions. Perfusion CT, the clinical standard, estimates these volumes but is affected by variations in deconvolution algorithms, implementations, and thresholds.

Single-Session Thrombectomy without Thrombolysis for Iliofemoral Deep Vein Thrombosis: A Single-Center Experience of ClotTriever with Evaluation of Predictors for Reocclusion

open access: yesThe Arab Journal of Interventional Radiology
Objective The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of a mechanical thrombectomy device in treating iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis (DVT) without thrombolysis and factors associated with post-thrombectomy occlusion.

A one-dimensional model for aspiration therapy in blood vessels [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Aspiration thrombectomy is a treatment option for ischemic stroke due to occlusions in large vessels. During the therapy a device is inserted into the vessel and suction is applied. A new one-dimensional model is introduced that is capable of simulating this procedure while accounting for the fluid-structure interactions in blood flow.

Breaking the 12-hour barrier: A case report on stent-retriever mechanical thrombectomy in a late-presenting acute ischemic stroke

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports
Ischemic stroke remains a leading health concern globally, particularly in high-challenge terrains such as Indonesia. Mechanical thrombectomy is one of the main surgical approaches for acute ischemic stroke, and it has significant benefits for patients ...
