MECHANICAL STICK-SLIP VIBRATIONS

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 1995
In this paper we consider the behavior of a two degree-of-freedom mechanical system incorporating static and dynamic friction, assumed to be a decreasing function of the relative sliding velocity. The model consists of two blocks linked by springs, which ride upon a moving belt.

Mechanical vibration analyzer

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1983
A visual graphical display of instantaneous mechanical vibration versus frequency over a selected frequency spectrum is presented to provide a vibration analyst with a prompt overall visual impression of the mechanical vibration characteristics of a rotating device which is under surveillance. In an alternative application, the visual display permits a

Mechanical Vibration in Neonatal Transport

Pediatrics, 1981
Mechanical vibration encountered in land transports was assessed objectively through measurement of vertical acceleration experienced by neonates in transit. Vibration was most predominant in the hazardous low frequency range of 3 to 18 Hz. The peak acceleration amplitudes (intermittent thrusts) ranged from 5 to 13 m/sq sec.

Mechanical vibrating systems

1985
The mathematical description of vibrating systems is achieved by means of the equations of motion or equations of vibration. These are determined from the fundamental physical laws governing the system under consideration. Thus it is not possible to give within the scope of this book a full presentation of the equations of motion of all vibrating ...

Mechanical Vibrations and Vibration Control

1994
In these lectures, an introduction is given into the basic concepts of the theory of active and passive vibration damping. First one degree of freedom systems are discussed with respect to the different solution techniques and with view to damping and isolation mechanisms.
