Magnetically Boosted Water‐Splitting Performance in Metallic Glasses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A strategy for boosting water electrolysis efficiency using ultralow magnetic fields on soft‐magnetic MG wires is reported. Ni40Fe40P20 metallic glass exhibits superior overall water‐splitting performance (1.51 V @ 1000 mA cm−2) at 100 Oe, enabled by spin polarization in periodic surface magnetic domains to enhance orbital hybridization and net spin ...

Developing Ontologies for Collaborative Engineering in Mechatronics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Creating a coherent set of ontologies to support a collaborative design process amongst different firms which develop mechatronic products is a challenge due to the semantic heterogeneity of the underlying domain models and the amount of domain knowledge that needs to be covered.

3D‐Printed Magnetoelectronics for Interactive Appliances and Self‐Aware 4D‐Printed Mechatronics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
3D‐printed magnetoelectronics integrate high‐performance magnetic field sensing directly into complex structural components. Flexible spring and cross‐shaped sensors exhibit giant magnetoimpedance and 3D Hall sensing for vector field reconstruction. Applications include smart‐home switches, robotic joysticks, volumetric magnetometers, and self‐aware 4D‐

Multi‐Stimuli Responsive Magneto‐Coacervate Droplets for Selective Molecular Enrichment and Programmable Manipulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Coacervate droplets formed via liquid–liquid phase separation offer unique opportunities as microreactors and delivery vehicles due to their ability to selectively concentrate biomolecules and support biochemical reactions. However, their passive nature severely restricts precise spatial and temporal control, posing barriers to practical ...

Engineering Design for Mechatronics—A Pedagogical Perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Here we examine how innovative and challenging Mechatronics programmes structured to meet future needs must still incorporate the basic principles of Engineering Design. However, Mechatronics remains a fundamentally innovative field and simple instruction in the basic mechanics of putting the components together is missing an educational opportunity to

Multiscale Modelling of the Electrocatalysis of Microenzymes: Insights Into the Performance of Microperoxidase at an Aqueous/Graphene Interface and Their Exploitation to Improve Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel multiscale MD/DFT framework to elucidate microenzyme adsorption and electron transfer is reported. This method reveals distinct configurations for microperoxidase‐11 on graphene and those best suited for electron transfer. Rate constants align with the limited experimental data, establishing this framework as a tool for optimizing microenzyme ...

Wearable Electro‐Thermal Haptic Stimulator Driven by a Self‐Powered Tactile Sensor for Realistic Stimulus Replication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a stimulus‐replicating system combining a tactile sensor with a wearable Peltier thermotactile module and concentric electrotactile electrode. Signals encoding pressure and temperature drive the stimulators to reproduce mechano‐thermal cues on the skin. AlN/PDMS encapsulation and SA/LA PSA ensure mechanical compliance and thermal efficiency.
