Ganetic loss for generative adversarial networks with a focus on medical applications
Abstract Generative adversarial networks (GANs) are machine learning models that are used to estimate the underlying statistical structure of a given dataset and, as a result, can be used for a variety of tasks, such as image generation or anomaly detection.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Generalized Tukey-type distributions with application to financial and teletraffic data [PDF]
Constructing skew and heavy-tailed distributions by transforming a standard normal variable goes back to Tukey (1977) and was extended and formalized by Hoaglin (1983) and Martinez & Iglewicz (1984). Applications of Tukey's GH distribution family - which

A systematic review on the generative AI applications in human medical genetics
Although traditional statistical techniques and machine learning methods have contributed significantly to genetics and, in particular, inherited disease diagnosis, they often struggle with complex, high-dimensional data, a challenge now addressed by state-of-the-art deep learning models. Large language models (LLMs), based on transformer architectures,

Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
