Online learning for X-ray, CT or MRI [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Medical imaging plays an important role in the medical sector in identifying diseases. X-ray, computed tomography (CT) scans, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are a few examples of medical imaging. Most of the time, these imaging techniques are utilized to examine and diagnose diseases. Medical professionals identify the problem after analyzing the

Multiplex single‐cell profiling of putative cancer stem cell markers ALDH1, SOX9, SOX2, CD44, CD133 and CD15 in endometrial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer stem cells are associated with aggressive disease, but a deep characterization of such markers is lacking in endometrial cancer. This study uses imaging mass cytometry to explore putative cancer stem cell markers in endometrial tumors and corresponding organoid models.

Flipping the Classroom for Optimizing Undergraduate Students’ Motivation and Understanding of Medical Physics Concepts

open access: yesEurasia Journal of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education, 2020
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the flipped classroom on optimizing students’ motivation and understanding of medical physics concepts. This approach transfers teacher-fronted lessons out of class to be prepared by students at

Adverse prognosis gene expression patterns in metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We aggregated a cohort of 1012 mCRPC tissue samples from 769 patients and investigated the association of gene expression‐based pathways with clinical outcomes. Loss of AR signaling, high proliferation, and a glycolytic phenotype were independently prognostic for poor outcomes, and an adverse transcriptional feature score incorporating these pathways ...

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Energy degrader optimization for medical beam lines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This paper describes the optimization of a variable energy degrader design for the Midwest Proton Radiotherapy Institute (MPRI) [1]. To optimize the energy degrader design we investigate the choice of an optimal material for the degrader, the beam emittance growth in the degrader, and the matching of the degraded beam with the acceptance of a medical ...
