CONTRACEPTIVE AND ENDOMETRIAL EFFECTS OF MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE

Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 1969
Present means of contraception are not satisfactory for all women. This study reports on the contraception efficacy and menstrual abnormalities of medroxyprogesterone acetate (Depo-Provera), which was given in an intramuscular dose of 150 mg. every 3 months for 1 year.

Endocrine Manipulation of Meningiomas with Medroxyprogesterone Acetate

Surgical Neurology, 1989
Medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) acted as a competitive binder to progesterone receptors (PR) of meningioma cytosols after in-vivo administration (PRmean =15.6 fmol/mg protein 338.3 fmol/g tumor, n = 15), in comparison to 54.9 fmol/mg protein (2813 fmol/g tumor) in our untreated meningioma series (n = 58).

Treatment of Breast Cancer with Medroxyprogesterone Acetate

Annals of Internal Medicine, 1968
The prolonged administration of large doses of medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) in the treatment of patients with disseminated breast cancer was studied. The patients consisted of 17 postmenopausal women previously treated with 1 or more hormones (group I) 17 women (oophorectomized or postnatural menopause) who had received MPA prior to the study ...

Augmentation of exercise ventilation by medroxyprogesterone acetate

Clinical Physiology, 1982
Summary. The influence of medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) on exercise performance was studied in a double‐blind cross‐over trial using six normal males to compare the exercise performance changes to those observed in a previous study of exercise responses of female subjects during the follicular and luteal phase of the menstrual cycle.

Treatment of alopecia X with medroxyprogesterone acetate

Veterinary Dermatology, 2013
BackgroundAlopecia X is a common cause of noninflammatory alopecia in Pomeranian dogs. In the past, treatment with growth hormone injections resulted in hair regrowth in many individuals. Progesterone can induce mammary‐derived growth hormone and is used to treat dogs with congenital growth hormone deficiency.Hypothesis/ObjectivesTo determine whether ...

Enzymatic assay of medroxyprogesterone acetate in plasma

Journal of Steroid Biochemistry, 1980
Abstract A method is described for the enzymatic assay of medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) in plasma. After extraction and chromatographic purification of the steroid it is desacetylated and rechromatographed on the same Lipidex column. The primary enzymatic reaction is carried out with 3α,20β-hydroxy-steroid dehydrogenase and the NAD + formed is ...

The metabolic fate of medroxyprogesterone acetate in the baboon

Journal of Steroid Biochemistry, 1976
Abstract The metabolic fate of medroxyprogesterone acetate (6α-methyl-17α-acetoxyprogesterone, MAP) was studied in intact baboons and in those with bile fistulas. The steroid moiety was labeled with 3 H at positions 1 and 2 and the 17α-acetate with 14 C, thus affording the opportunity to ascertain the loss of the 17-acetoxy group and the fate of ...

Treatment of seizures with medroxyprogesterone acetate

Neurology, 1984
Medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA), a synthetic progesterone, was added to the antiepileptic drug regimen of 14 women who had uncontrolled seizures. Of the 11 women who developed amenorrhea, 7 reported fewer seizures during MPA therapy. Overall reductions in seizure frequency averaged 30% (n = 11), declining from a baseline 8.3 +/- 5.8 seizures per ...

Effect of Medroxyprogesterone Acetate on Peritoneal Adhesion

Asia-Oceania Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 1988
AbstractSixteen albino female non‐pregnant rabbits of the blanc du Bouscat strain are the material of this study. Ten animals received a single intramuscular injection of 20 mg medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA). The other six received placebo (normal saline).

MANAGEMENT OF ENDOMETRIOSIS WITH ORAL MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE

Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 1976
Efficacy of oral medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA) was assessed in 35 women with an established diagnosis of endometriosis (33 pelvic and 2 abdominal). MPA was given in a dosage of 30 mg daily for 90 days. Results indicated improvement or remission in all cases, even though breakthrough bleeding occurred in 8.
