Risk Factors for Lateral Lymph Node Metastases in Patients With Sporadic Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma
Purpose: Medullary thyroid carcinoma is a rare endocrine malignancy; 75% of patients with this disease have sporadic medullary thyroid carcinoma. While surgery is the only curative treatment, the benefit of prophylactic lateral neck dissection is unclear.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

GABAergic parafacial zone is a medullary slow–wave–sleep promoting center
Work in animals and humans has suggested the existence of a slow wave sleep (SWS)-promoting/electroencephalogram (EEG)-synchronizing center in the mammalian lower brainstem.

Understanding the Effects of Conductive Polymer Electrode Coating on Recorded Neural Signals
Conductive polymer coatings are widely explored to improve the quality of signals recorded with chronically implanted neural electrodes, offering enhanced biocompatibility along with reduced electrode impedance. Combining computational modelling and data from PEDOT:PTS coated and PtIr electrodes in rats, we show that improvements in signal quality with

Three‐Dimensional Ovary Model to Improve and Study Murine Follicle Growth
To develop new methods for fertility preservation in women, novel culture systems for small follicles need to be established. In this work, a poly(ethylene glycol) based scaffold, with appropriate mechanical and bioactive features to support mouse follicle and ovary cell growth is developed, and the formed cell‐follicle interactions are visualized ...

Hu et al. show that the chemokine receptor CCR4 is involved in thymocyte medullary entry, interactions with dendritic cells, and negative selection. In the absence of CCR4, central tolerance is not established, promoting autoimmunity.

xx xx. ABSTRACT Osseointegration of orthopedic and dental implants is influenced by local and systemic factors, including their physicochemical surface properties and the patient's overall health status. Titanium and its alloys have been a longstanding standard for bone implants due to their innate biocompatibility and mechanical properties.
