Bidirectional Search That Is Guaranteed to Meet in the Middle

Proceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2016
We present MM, the first bidirectional heuristic search algorithm whose forward and backward searches are guaranteed to ''meet in the middle'', i.e. never expand a node beyond the solution midpoint. We also present a novel framework for comparing MM, A*, and brute-force search, and identify conditions favoring each algorithm.

Meeting in the middle: joining reflection and action in complex public sector projects

Public Money & Management, 2010
In order for co-production to become a viable way of working in public sector management and policy-making, practitioners need to be more reflective and researchers need to be more action oriented. This article discusses reflective practice, action research and the idea of a community of inquiry in which both practice and science work together.

Some Meet-in-the-Middle Circuit Lower Bounds

2004
We observe that a combination of known top-down and bottom-up lower bound techniques of circuit complexity may yield new circuit lower bounds.

Meeting in the middle – desirable but not easy

Environmental Policy and Governance, 2009
AbstractSome form of adaptive management is needed to address complex, uncertain and wicked natural resource management situations. Adaptive management is dependent on learning, in particular social learning. We reflect on some practical constraints on social learning by reference to a recent local scale project in south‐eastern Australia. The ‘Meeting

Giants and dwarfs meet in the middle

Nature, 1996
The discovery of two remarkable new objects by astronomers has blurred the distinction between stars and planets. It also raises hopes of finding planetary systems like our own in the near future.

Meet-in-the-Middle Attacks on Round-Reduced Khudra

2015
Khudra is a hardware-oriented lightweight block cipher that is designed to run efficiently on Field Programmable Gate Arrays. It employs an 18-rounds Generalized type-2 Feistel Structure with a 64-bit block length and an 80-bit key. In this paper, we present Meet-in-the-Middle MitM attacks on 13 and 14 round-reduced Khudra.
