Abstract Mefenamic acid ('Ponstan') overdosage has increased steadily in Edinburgh over the past 12 years. Of fifty-four patients studied prospectively only twenty-nine had plasma mefenamic acid concentrations above the therapeutic range at admission.

To the Editor.— I think that Penny W. Budoff, MD (242:2394, 1979), in reply to Souney et al (242:2393, 1979) casts unnecessary aspersions on the Medical Letter 1 they referred to, calling it "behind the times." Indeed, the issue quoted by Souney et al was from 1972.
