The “suevite” conundrum, Part 2: Re‐examining the type locality at the Ries impact structure, Germany

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 59, Issue 10, Page 2622-2650, October 2024.
Abstract One of the most common types of allochthonous impactite produced in hypervelocity impact events is impact breccia that contains melt particles. In numerous terrestrial hypervelocity impact structures such melt‐bearing breccias have been termed “suevite,” after the type locality at the Ries impact structure, Germany.

Ries magnetic mineralogy: Exploring impact and post‐impact evolution of crater magnetism

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 59, Issue 7, Page 1577-1609, July 2024.
Abstract Large‐scale impact events are some of the most catastrophic and instantaneous geological processes in nature, and leave in their wake conspicuous geological structures with characteristic magnetic anomalies. Despite magnetic anomalies in craters being well‐documented, their relationship with the magnetic mineral composition of the target and ...

Glacial and volcanic landforms in the upper catchment of Claro River, Central Chile (35.5°S): A Late Quaternary geomorphological case study

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 49, Issue 7, Page 2291-2307, 15 June 2024.
The upper catchment of the Claro river in the central Chilean Andes is described in terms of volcanic and glacial landforms seeking to establish a relative chronology associated to events during the late Pleistocene and Holocene, which is summarized in seven phases and presented as a conceptual model.
