A Practical Approach in Differentiating IBD From Other Causes of Enterocolitis

ABSTRACT Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is emerging in Asia, but there are many challenges in making the diagnosis. There is no gold standard for the diagnosis of IBD, which is often made based on a combination of clinical, endoscopic, radiological, and histological features, none of which are specific for the condition.

ABSTRACT Amebiasis, caused by Entamoeba histolytica, can present diagnostic challenges due to its diverse clinical manifestations and potential for misdiagnosis, particularly in regions with low incidence rates. We report a case of a 9‐year‐old girl initially diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease but later confirmed to have amebic colitis.

ABSTRACT Clostridioides difficile (C. difficile ) is a Gram‐positive anaerobic bacillus that causes intestinal disorders. Toll‐like receptor 4 (TLR4) plays a key role in innate immunity. This study examines the role of TLR4 in the response to C. difficile toxins, which induce cell death and inflammatory responses in enteric glial cells (EGCs).
