Validity of Noninvasive Meibography Systems

Cornea, 2013
Meibomian glands (MGs) secrete lipids (meibum) into the tear film and prevent excessive evaporation. MG dysfunction (MGD) is a major cause of evaporative dry eye. Recent studies have demonstrated that evaporative dry eye resulting from MGD is far more common than aqueous-deficient dry eye is.

Meibography in meibomian gland dysfunction with digital biomicroscopy

The EYE GLAZ, 2022
Dry eye disease (DED) is one of the most common conditions encountered by ophthalmologists in their practice. Currently, experts consider meibomian gland dysfunction to be the leading cause of dry eye syndrome. This condition is characterized by obstruction of meibomian gland discharge ducts and/or changes in their glandular secretion, which leads to ...

Modified meibography in malignant eyelid tumors of epithelial origin

Vestnik oftal'mologii, 2019
Eyelid tumors can be diagnosed using various diagnostic techniques. However, capability of existing methods for determining the type and margins of the tumor at the preoperative stage remains insufficiently studied. To improve the noncontact infrared meibography technique and determine its diagnostic capabilities for studying structural changes in ...

Automatic Lid Segmentation in Meibography Images

2019
This work presents an evaluation of two machine learning schemes for lid segmentation on meibography images. Both schemes use same input features based on pixel gray levels, laplacian and entropy filters, and also distances to anatomical landmarks like pupil and eye lashes.

Interexaminer Reliability of Meibography: Upper or Lower Eyelid?

Eye & Contact Lens: Science & Clinical Practice, 2018
Objectives: To investigate the interexaminer reliability of meibography evaluation and the impact of eyelid selection for the procedure. Methods: Meibography images of 30 subjects' right eye, including both lids, were evaluated by three clinicians.

A Newly Developed Noninvasive and Mobile Pen-Shaped Meibography System

Cornea, 2013
To examine the usefulness of a newly developed noninvasive mobile pen-shaped meibography system. This study evaluated a newly developed noninvasive mobile pen-shaped meibography system comprising an infrared light-emitting diode as the light source and a highly sensitive complementary metal oxide semiconductor image camera.

Meibography-Guided Electroepilation for Congenital Distichiasis: A Novel Surgical Technique

Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Purpose: Congenital distichiasis is managed either by ablation, using laser, cryotherapy, or electroepilation, or by surgical excision with mucous membrane grafting. Ablative procedures are usually blind as the exact depth of distichiatic eyelashes is unknown.
