Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGNs) are investigated for bone regeneration given their remarkable structural and functional properties. MBGNs are functionalized with Mn and Cu and incorporated with quercetin, a natural flavonoid exhibiting antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.

Crystallization refining of aluminum with a high content of impurities
This study presents the results of the crystallization refining of aluminum that contains high levels of iron (up to 3 wt%) and silicon (up to 0.5 wt%) impurities, which accumulate in electrolytic cells before major overhauls. A novel refining method for

This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

An Inkjet‐Printed Platinum‐Based Temperature Sensing Element on Polyimide Substrates
An inkjet‐printed, meander‐structured, nanoparticle platinum‐based resistive temperature sensors on polyimide substrates are demonstrated as proof‐of‐concept. Optimized sintering at 250°C enables stable conductive structures. The Pt100‐ and Pt1000‐type sensors exhibit linear resistance–temperature characteristics with stable TCR in the 20°C–80°C range,

The impact of conservation translocations on vector-borne parasites : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Ecology at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]
Wildlife conservation in New Zealand relies on translocations of endangered species to safe sites. While knowledge of the biology and behaviour of translocated hosts has steadily increased, the role of parasites in wildlife translocations has been ...
