Murtoos and murtooized terrains are new types of subglacial landforms found in the Fennoscandian Ice Sheet (FIS) and Cordilleran Ice Sheet (CIS) regions. LiDAR‐based morphometric analyses have revealed substantial morphometric diversity among murtoos and murtoo‐related landforms, while sedimentological excavations have documented a wide range of ...

Deep Learning Models for Mapping Surficial Geology in Selected Physiographic Regions of New York
Deep learning models provide a faster, less resource‐intensive approach to mapping surficial materials. Though not a replacement for traditional mapping, the models and framework developed here can enhance the speed, consistency and quality of surficial geologic mapping when trained with high‐quality data, especially in glaciated terrain.

Impacts of Antarctic Ice Mass Loss on New Zealand Climate
We investigate the impacts of meltwater from Antarctic Ice Sheet (AIS) mass loss on New Zealand climate in a state‐of‐the‐art global climate model. We conduct simulations with additional meltwater from AIS mass loss for both the historical period and a ...

Long‐term chronologies constructed from individual bowhead baleen plates reveal stable isotope declines consistent with regional Arctic food web or productivity changes superimposed on global anthropogenic C and N inputs, while relatively stable hormone concentrations over the same period provide no evidence of a concomitant increase in physiological ...

Changing Water Resources in the Indus Basin: A Multi‐Model Budyko‐Based Analysis
Budyko‐based analysis evaluates historical (1962–2005) and future hydroclimatic change across the Indus River Basin. Budyko shifts indicate rising atmospheric evaporative demand and increasing energy limitation under future scenarios. ABSTRACT Assessing hydroclimatic variability and future water availability is crucial for sustainable water‐resource ...

Antarctic Meltwater‐Stratification Feedback Is Less Pronounced Under High Climate Forcing
Several studies have shown sub‐surface warming in the Southern Ocean via an increase in meltwater flux from the Antarctic Ice Sheet (AIS), which can lead to a positive feedback through enhanced basal melting.

ABSTRACT Soil organic carbon (SOC), as a key indicator of global carbon cycling and climate change response, plays a critical role in regional ecological security and agricultural sustainability. This study employs three machine learning models including the LightGBM, XGBoost, and random forest to simulate the spatial distribution of topsoil SOC stocks

Role of methanotrophy in a high‐methane emitting thermokarst lake
Abstract Thermokarst (thaw) lakes are projected to be an increasing source of atmospheric methane (CH4), a potent greenhouse gas, as climate warms and permafrost thaws. However, the magnitude of CH4 cycling, particularly the role of aerobic CH4 oxidation (methanotrophy), among thermokarst lakes, is not well constrained.

Movement of Meltwater in Small Basins
A kinematic approach is applied to compute moisture flux and particle velocities in the unsaturated zone. The computations are compared with observations of tracer marked meltwater particles.
