Antisolvent membrane crystallization of pharmaceutical compounds

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2009
This article describes a modification of the conventional membrane crystallization technique in which a membrane is used to dose the solvent/antisolvent composition to generate supersaturation and induce crystallization in a drug solution. Two operative configurations are proposed: (a) solvent/antisolvent demixing crystallization, where the solvent is ...

Crystallization of Membrane Proteins in Bicelles

2012
The structural biology of membrane proteins remains a challenging field, partly due to the difficulty in obtaining high-quality crystals. We developed the bicelle method as a tool to aid with the production of membrane protein crystals. Bicelles are bilayer discs that are formed by a mixture of a detergent and a lipid.

MEMBRANES FOR IMPROVED MEMBRANE DISTILLATION AND MEMBRANE CRYSTALLIZATION

2020
Symmetric PVDF porous membranes with Graphene flakes have been prepared by phase inversion technique and used to equip membrane distillation devices. Very high water flux and total salt rejection have been obtained with long-term stability and resistance to fouling.

Membrane Distillation Crystallizer

2019
Membrane distillation crystallization (MDC) is an innovative concept of combining the strengths of membrane distillation into crystallization processes because crystallization is one of the major unit operations in chemical industries. The hybrid technology is of growing interest due to some important advantages, such as the controlled rates of ...

Crystallization of Membrane Proteins

1992
Abstract Crytallization of integral membrane proteins is one of the most recent developments in protein crystal growth: in 1980, for the first time, two membrane proteins were successfully crystallized, bacteriorhodopsin (1) and porin (2). Since then, a number of membrane proteins (about 20) yielded three-dimensional crystals.
