Extracorporeal Catalytic Hemoperfusion Therapy for Refractory Septic Shock Using Ceria Nanoparticle‐Embedded Porous Microbeads

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces an extracorporeal hemoperfusion system incorporating porous microbeads embedded with autocatalytic ceria nanoparticles (CeNPs) for targeted reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging in septic shock. The blood‐compatible hemoperfusion cartridge demonstrated significant improvements in survival, hemodynamic stability, and organ ...

Local Enhancement of lipid membrane permeability induced by irradiated gold nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Photothermal therapies are based on the optical excitation of plasmonic nanoparticles in the biological environment. The effects of the irradiation on the biological medium depend critically on the heat transfer process at the nanoparticle interface, on the temperature reached by the tissues as well as on the spatial extent of temperature gradients ...

Magnetic Field‐Assisted Conductive Nerve Guidance Conduit Enabling Peripheral Nerve Regeneration with Wireless Electrical Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a conductive nerve guidance conduit integrated with wireless electrical stimulation through alternating magnetic fields, which induces currents and creates a supportive microenvironment for nerve regeneration. In vivo studies show that this approach significantly enhanced myelin restoration, gastrocnemius muscle regeneration ...

The irreversible thermodynamics of curved lipid membranes II: Permeability and osmosis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We present a theory that combines the framework of irreversible thermodynamics with modified integral theorems to model arbitrarily curved and deforming membranes immersed in bulk fluid solutions. We study the coupling between the mechanics and permeability of a viscous and elastically-bendable membrane, and a multi-component bulk fluid solution.

細胞膜プレートを使用したサイトプローブ薬物の細胞膜透過性に関する基礎的検討 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Drug efficacy depends on the amount of a preparation reaching the target tissue (grade of tissue transfer). In this experiment, we established the normal albumin concentration of a healthy adult (600 μ M) or a low-albumin state indicating marked liver ...

Hydrogel‐Based Photothermal‐Catalytic Membrane for Efficient Cogeneration of Freshwater and Hydrogen in Membrane Distillation System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents an overview of the PTC‐VMD system for water‐hydrogen co‐generation. a) Illustration of the hydrogel‐based PTC membrane and the co‐generation of water and hydrogen. b) Structure of the PTC‐VMD system and the functions of each component layer.

A Dual-mode model interpretation of CO2/CH4 permeability in polysulfone membranes at low pressures

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências
An asymmetric membrane of polysulfone (PSf) was synthesized by phase inversion method. Permeation experiments were carried out between 2 to 5 bar pressure, and at temperatures 20 to 45°C.
