On the shape finding analysis of membrane structures considering the bending stiffness of boundary frames

open access: yes, 1996
The paper describes the shape finding analysis of membrane structures considering the bending stiffness of boundary frames. The aim of this paper is to release the freedom of deciding the shape of membrane surface more in designing membrane structures ...

Morphological characterization of a polymeric microfiltration membrane by synchrotron radiation computed microtomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Most commercial polymeric membranes are prepared by phase inversion. The performance of the membranes depends greatly on the morphology of the porous structure formed during the different steps of this process.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Thermally induced phase separation PVDF membrane fabricated by using NaCl coagulation bath: relation of membrane surface morphology and permeation performance

open access: yes
Efforts have been made in thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) process to modify the morphology of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes in order to improve their permeation performance and mechanical properties.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Isolation of oligomycin-sensitive adenosine triphosphatase from beef heart mitochondria and analysis of its fine structure

open access: yes, 1967
1. An oligomycin -sensitive ATPase was isolated and partially purified from beef heart mitochondria. The specific activity of ATPase sensitive to oligomycin of the fraction was five to eight times that of aged mitochondrial or of DNP-induced ...

Molecular mechanism of human α1A-adrenoceptor inhibition by Mamba snake toxin AdTx1

open access: yesCommunications Biology
There is growing interest in peptide or small protein based drugs targeting G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) for improved subtype selectivity over small molecules. Naturally occurring toxins represent rich sources of such ligands.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
