Unsilenced inhibitory cortical ensemble gates remote memory retrieval
Summary: Acquired information can be consolidated to remote memory for storage but persists in a dormant state until its retrieval. However, how dormant memory is reactivated requires further investigation.

Dopamine-dependent prefrontal reactivations explain long-term benefit of fear extinction
The success of extinction learning is not predictive of long-term retrieval of an extinction memory. Using fMRI to study consolidation of fear extinction in human subjects, the authors show that reactivation in the ventromedial prefrontal cortex during ...

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.
