Chordoid meningioma: Rare variant of meningioma

Neuropathology, 2004
Chordoid meningioma is a rare variant of meningioma that bears a striking histological resemblance to chordoma and has greater likelihood of recurrence. Although most meningiomas occur in the intracranial, orbital and intravertebral cavities, rare meningiomas have been reported in extracranial organs; thus, it is important to be able to distinguish ...

Meningioma

Current Opinion in Neurology, 1993
Meningiomas more often behave as benign tumors although their very rate of recurrence is unknown. These neoplasms have been exhaustively studied but neither their subtypes nor their histologic features were ever considered as reliable data of their biologic behavior.

Meningiomas

Current Treatment Options in Neurology, 2010
Meningiomas are extra-axial dural-based tumors. They are the most common intracranial tumors, occur in mid to late life, and have a female predilection. Symptoms are a function of location. Meningiomas are usually benign, but atypical and malignant forms exist. Treatment is indicated for symptomatic lesions or when neurologic symptoms may shortly occur.

Secretory Meningioma

The American Journal of Surgical Pathology, 1986
Six meningiomas with abundant hyaline inclusions (pseudopsammoma bodies) were studied. As seen by light and electron microscopy, hyaline inclusions are composed of material of varying structures located in intracellular lumina lined by microvilli. A remarkable pericytic proliferation within the vessel walls was found in five cases.

Metastatic Meningioma

The American Journal of Surgical Pathology, 1993
The question of whether meningeal hemangiopericytoma is a variant of meningioma ("angioblastic meningioma") or a nosologically distinct entity remains controversial. We present the case histories of an intracranial meningioma and of a meningeal hemangiopericytoma, both of which developed extracranial metastases.

Granulofilamentous meningioma

Brain Tumor Pathology, 2012
A 55-year old female was referred to the Department of Neurosurgery, Kitasato Hospital, because of a hearing impairment. Neuroimaging revealed a typical meningioma attached to the falx in the right frontal region. During surgery, an encapsulated, circumscribed, reddish-gray, slightly hard tumor attached to the falx was completely removed by an ...

Extracranial Meningioma

Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1979
A patient is presented with findings of separate intracranial and extracranial meningiomas, each of a different histologic type. A calcified fibrous meningioma, with secondary psammomatous features, presented as a left neck mass associated with hoarseness, dysphagia, a unilateral facial weakness and hearing loss.

Tentorial Meningiomas

Neurosurgery, 1995
We report our experience with and long-term results of 37 patients with tentorial meningiomas who underwent surgery between 1972 and 1993. The average age was 43 years, and the mean duration of symptoms was 36 months. Headache (83.8%) and extremity or gait ataxia (35.1%) were the most common complaints.

Vascularity of meningiomas

2020
Information on the vascular supply to meningiomas is critical to the neurosurgeon. Most meningiomas are supplied by the external carotid artery, though many get pial contribution as well. Angiogenesis is critical for these neoplasms to grow. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) has been a popular target of research to decrease angiogenesis ...
