Inversion of (-)-menthone

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences, USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1963
1. It was shown that the optical inversion of the 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone of menthone occurs under the action of trichloroacetic acid. 2. It was shown that optically active and racemic alkoxides have different catalytic effects on the optical inversion of menthone.

Oxidation of menthone oxothiolane

Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 2008
meta-Chloroperoxybenzoic acid (m-ClPBA) was shown to be an oxidant for two stereoisomers of menthone oxothiolane. The effect of steric factors on the ability to oxidize the sulfide group was found. Oxidation of (5S,6S,9R)-6-isopropyl-9-methyl-1-oxo-4-thiaspiro[4.5]-decane to the sulfone was prevented by the steric proximity of an isopropyl group to the

Chiral perrocenylalkylamines from (-)-menthone

Tetrahedron, 1986
Abstract Three enantiomerically pure ∝-ferrocenylalkylamines are directly obtained from (-)-menthone. The isomerizations of the ∝-ferrocenylalkyl carbocation intermediates are studied and exploited in stereoselective syntheses. These carbocations are the basis of the configurational assignment of the amines.

Intramolecular Hydrogen Transfer Reaction: Menthon from Isopulegol

Organic Letters, 2014
The flavor menthon (isomeric mixture of (-)-menthon and (+)-isomenthon) was obtained in good yields and selectivities by a solventless ruthenium catalyzed isomerization of the homoallylic alcohol (-)-isopulegol. In contrast to most previous assumptions on such "isomerization" reactions, this reaction follows an intermolecular pathway, with menthol and ...
