Alkynes Hydration in Three‐Component Double‐Acidic Deep Eutectic Solvents

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 1, January 2026.
All‐in‐one solution! Novel three‐component double‐acidic deep eutectic solvents (DESs) enable the regioselective hydration of both terminal and internal alkynes to afford the corresponding ketones. The key factor is the triple activity of the DES: solvent, reagent, and catalyst.

Thiazolidine‐Grafted Zeolite Imidazolate Frameworks: A Cysteine‐Derived Route to Improved Metal Loading and Tune the CO2 Hydrogenation Efficiency

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 1, January 2026.
Covalent grafting of S‐containing ligands onto a zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) forms thiazolidine groups that bind noble metal ions, enhancing metal capture. The highly porous ZIF structure supports controlled growth of metal nanoparticles, while the specific interactions between the thiazolidine groups and metal atoms enable high metal loading ...

Dietary Exposure to Mercury and Arsenic From Traditional Qatari Foods: Implications for Food Safety and Public Health

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, Volume 4, Issue 1, Page 125-137, January 2026.
In the Qatari cuisine, seafood showed significantly elevated mercury concentrations, whereas arsenic was more evenly distributed across the different foods. Although arsenic exposure was low (HQ < 0.2), mercury posed a high risk (HQ 7.9–9.3; HI > 8), highlighting seafood as the dominant dietary source of heavy metal exposure. ABSTRACT Heavy metals have

Biosorption of Heavy Metal Cadmium From Aqua Medium Using Moringa Oleifera as Nature‐Based Solution

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, Volume 4, Issue 1, Page 180-195, January 2026.
The abstract explains the use of plant components of Moringa oleifera, such as seeds and leaves, for the biosorption of cadmium metal and the effect of the different variables, including pH, temperature, particle size, biomass dose, initial metal concentration, and contact time, on the adsorption process.

Performance on neurological development tests by riverine children with moderate mercury exposure in Amazonia, Brazil

open access: yesCadernos de Saúde Pública
The nervous system can be damaged when the population is exposed to methyl mercury (MeHg) by ingesting fish, and children deserve special attention due to their increased susceptibility as compared to adults.
