Surgical management of a penetrating cardiac foreign body causing tamponade in a dog: case report

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Background Penetrating cardiac foreign bodies are rare in dogs but can result in life‐threatening complications, including pericardial effusion and cardiac tamponade. Prompt diagnosis, emergency stabilization, and definitive surgical management are essential to achieve a favorable outcome.

A Newtonian Solution for Mercury's Anomalous Perihelion Precession

open access: yes
This paper re-examines the anomalous perihelion precession of Mercury within a Newtonian framework, incorporating finite-speed gravitational propagation, gravitational aberration effects, and galactic motion corrections. Using updated astrophysical parameters, a classical explanation for the observed 43 arcseconds per century precession is derived ...

Immediate intraoperative detrusor muscle status at primary transurethral resection of bladder tumour: a prospective, blinded, paired cohort, feasibility study using fluorescence confocal microscopy (IB1‐LaserComplete study)

open access: yesBJU International, EarlyView.
Objectives To evaluate ex vivo fluorescence confocal microscopy (FCM) for immediate detrusor muscle (DM) assessment during primary transurethral resection of bladder tumour (TURBT). Patients and Methods This prospective, blinded, paired‐cohort feasibility study enrolled consecutive patients undergoing primary TURBT for suspected non‐muscle‐invasive ...

Resolving Mercury’s Perihelion Precession and Implications for General Relativity

open access: yes
This brief explores the resolution of Mercury’s perihelion precession anomaly within the framework of Newtonian mechanics. It revisits Le Verrier’s historical calculations and the assumptions about Mercury’s mass, highlighting that the observed anomaly disappears when accurate mass values are used.

Signal detection and characterisation of a novel drug–drug interaction between methadone and a synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonist

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Little is known about how synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonist (SCRA) co‐use with other psychoactive substances may exacerbate risk of death. This study aimed to characterise the polypharmacy of deaths where SCRAs were detected at post‐mortem, investigate the cardiotoxicity of SCRAs and probe their inhibition of human ether‐a ...

Patch Test Results With Dental Series: An 18‐Year Retrospective Study

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, EarlyView.
Patch testing with dental series is recommended for patients with oral symptoms and/or a history of allergic contact dermatitis ‐ particularly before dental procedures. Routine pre‐implantation patch testing should be considered only on an individual basis rather than as a standard practice.
