Massively Parallel Sort-Merge Joins in Main Memory Multi-Core Database Systems [PDF]
Two emerging hardware trends will dominate the database system technology in the near future: increasing main memory capacities of several TB per server and massively parallel multi-core processing.

Systems Underlying Human and Old World Monkey Communication: One, Two, or Infinite
Using artificially synthesized stimuli, previous research has shown that cotton-top tamarin monkeys easily learn simple AB grammar sequences, but not the more complex AnBn sequences that require hierarchical structure.

Compactness in semantics for merge and fair merge [PDF]
An analysis of the role of compactness in defining the semantics of the merge and fair merge operations is provided. In a suitable context of hyperspaces (sets of subsets) a set is compact iff it is the limit of a sequence of finite sets; hence, compactness generalises bounded nondeterminacy.

Parallelization, Special Hardware and Post-Newtonian Dynamics in Direct N - Body Simulations [PDF]
The formation and evolution of supermassive black hole (SMBH) binaries during and after galaxy mergers is an important ingredient for our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution in a cosmological context, e.g.

Composition of Biochemical Networks using Domain Knowledge [PDF]
Graph composition has applications in a variety of practical applications. In drug development, for instance, in order to understand possible drug interactions, one has to merge known networks and examine topological variants arising from such ...

On concord and projection [PDF]
In the spirit of the copy theory of movement, I propose that Merge applies only to satisfy Selection or Modification. This proposal differentiates between Agreement (instantiated by an EPP-feature targeting the upper argument selected by the lexical head,

On the Computational Power of DNA Annealing and Ligation [PDF]
In [20] it was shown that the DNA primitives of Separate, Merge, and Amplify were not sufficiently powerful to invert functions defined by circuits in linear time.

Fragments Along the Way: Minimalism as an Account of Some Stages in First Language Acquisition
We discuss two instances in which the minimalist model of syntax offers a potential account of children's linguistic behavior: the Merge analysis of phrase structure and the analysis of pronominal structures and other long distance dependencies.

Split and Merge Strategies for Solving Uncertain Equations Using Affine Arithmetic [PDF]
The behaviour of systems is determined by various parameters. Due to several reasons like e. g. manufacturing tolerances these parameters can have some uncertainties.
