THE CONCEPT OF UNDERTAKING IN THE EUROPEAN UNION COMPETITION LAW [PDF]

open access: yesChallenges of the Knowledge Society, 2018
One of the most important concepts that the European Union Competition Law uses is the undertaking. In order to correctly apply the rules under this domain, it is necessary to fully understand when an entity is or isn`t an undertaking under competition

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Merger Performance under Uncertain Efficiency Gains [PDF]

open access: yes
In view of the uncertainty over the ability of merging firms to achieve efficiency gains, we model the post-merger situation as a Cournot oligopoly wherein the outsiders face uncertainty about the merged entity’s final cost.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Reliability of merger tree realizations of dark halos in the Monte-Carlo modeling of galaxy formation

open access: yes, 2002
We examine the reliability of the merger trees generated for the Monte-Carlo modeling of galaxy formation. In particular we focus on the cold gas fraction predicted from the merger trees with different assumptions on the progenitor distribution function,

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Conservation Easements and the Doctrine Of Merger [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
McLaughlin talks about conservation easements and the doctrine of merger. This article explains that merger generally should not occur in such cases because the unity of ownership that is required for the doctrine to apply typically will not be present ...
