Mesenteric vein thrombosis in a dog
Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association, 1998A four-year-old, male cocker spaniel was presented for vomiting and anorexia of two days' duration. An elongated abdominal mass was palpated, and abdominal pain was noted. On exploratory laparotomy, a jejunal segment was found to be infarcted transmurally. Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of mesenteric vein thrombosis.

Aneurysms of the portal vein and superior mesenteric vein
Abdominal Imaging, 1997Only scattered reports of portal vein and superior mesenteric vein aneurysms appear in the literature. Case reports of three patients with portal vein and superior mesenteric vein aneurysms diagnosed by computed tomography (CT) and gray-scale, color Doppler, and duplex Doppler sonography are presented.

Acute mesenteric venous thrombosis signs at MDCT are well described, but the literature lacks studies assessing their evolution. We aimed to describe the radiologic evolution of isolated acute mesenteric venous thrombosis and associated prognostic factors.Patients with isolated acute mesenteric venous thrombosis with follow-up for a minimum of 1 month ...

Superior Mesenteric Vein Aneurysm
Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, 2011A 46-year-old female was found to have a saccular superior mesenteric vein (SMV) aneurysm on computed tomography (CT) scan during workup for abdominal pain. It measured 3.5 cm in diameter. The SMV aneurysm was successfully resected, and the SMV was repaired with femoral vein patch angioplasty. She was placed on Coumadin for 3 months.

Idiopathic myointimal hyperplasia of mesenteric veins
Gastroenterology, 1991Nonthrombotic occlusion or stenosis of the mesenteric veins is a rare cause of intestinal ischemia that usually occurs in association with systemic vasculitis. The current report includes four male patients with segmental ischemic colitis caused by idiopathic myointimal hyperplasia in the small mesenteric veins and their intramural branches; neither ...

[Mesenteric infarct in acute mesenteric vein thrombosis].
Helvetica chirurgica acta, 1995Mesenteric venous thrombosis is an infrequent but distinct form of intestinal ischemia. We report 2 cases of acute mesenteric venous thrombosis, treated successfully by carrying out intestinal resection and postoperative anti-coagulation (Heparin, Sintrom). Both patients were diagnosed in the operating room.

[Management of mesenteric ischemia and mesenteric vein thrombosis].
Deutsche medizinische Wochenschrift (1946), 2014Acute mesenteric ischemia is secondary to acute embolic disease or thrombosis of the superior mesenteric artery. Further pathologies that manifest themselves with the same clinical presentation are thrombosis of the superior mesenteric vein and non-occlusive disease. The patients are admitted to the emergency room with an acute abdomen.
