Thrombospondin‐4 is upregulated in abdominal aortic aneurysm: A vasoprotective response with potential therapeutic relevance

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 12, Page 3321-3339, June 2026.
TSP4 is upregulated in human and experimental AAA. TSP4 knockdown accelerated AAA formation and exacerbated both vascular inflammation and remodelling, emphasizing that TSP4 upregulation may represent a protective response against AAA. Our findings suggest that preserving TSP4 could be a useful strategy in the clinical management of AAA.

Orchestration of PKC‐Mediated Inhibition and Calcium Release‐Mediated Activation of BK Currents in Rat Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells by Melatonin Confers a BK‐Channel‐Dependent Restraint on Melatonin‐Induced Vasocontraction

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 10, 31 May 2026.
Melatonin‐evoked BK current stimulation limits melatonin‐induced vasocontraction. Counter‐regulatory role for BK current depends on PLC‐dependent signaling cross‐talk. Stimulation of BK current involves melatonin‐induced IP3‐mediated calcium release leading to activation of BK channels. Stimulation of BK current involves melatonin‐induced activation of
