EIT-MESHER – Segmented FEM Mesh Generation and Refinement

open access: yesJournal of Open Research Software, 2020
EIT-MESHER (https://github.com/EIT-team/Mesher) is C++ software, based on the CGAL library, which generates high quality Finite Element Model tetrahedral meshes from binary masks of 3D volume segmentations.

Quantifying numerical dispersion in non-orthogonal FDTD meshes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Numerical electromagnetic models such as FDTD are widely used for the design and analysis of structures, including antennas. Numerical dispersion is one of the main sources of error that degrade the accuracy of the results-for each structure of interest,

On the mesh nonsingularity of the moving mesh PDE method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The moving mesh PDE (MMPDE) method for variational mesh generation and adaptation is studied theoretically at the discrete level, in particular the nonsingularity of the obtained meshes.

A Clustering-Based Bubble Method for Generating High-Quality Tetrahedral Meshes of Geological Models

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
High-quality mesh generation is critical in the finite element analysis of displacements and stabilities of geological bodies. In this paper, we propose a clustering-based bubble method for generating high-quality tetrahedral meshes of geological models.

Robust automatic hexahedral cartilage meshing framework enables population-based computational studies of the knee

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2022
Osteoarthritis of the knee is increasingly prevalent as our population ages, representing an increasing financial burden, and severely impacting quality of life.

High-order curvilinear hybrid mesh generation for CFD simulations

open access: yes, 2018
We describe a semi-structured method for the generation of high-order hybrid meshes suited for the simulation of high Reynolds number flows. This is achieved through the use of highly stretched elements in the viscous boundary layers near the wall ...

The KW-boundary hybrid digital waveguide mesh for room acoustics applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The digital waveguide mesh is a discrete-time simulation used to model acoustic wave propagation through a bounded medium. It can be applied to the simulation of the acoustics of rooms through the generation of impulse responses suitable for auralization

Large-eddy simulations of co-annular turbulent jet using a Voronoi-based mesh generation framework

open access: yesAdvanced Courses, 2018
Large eddy simulations are performed for a cold ideally-expanded dual-stream jet issued from cylindrical co-axial nozzles, with supersonic primary stream (Mach number M 1 = 1 . 55 ) and subsonic secondary stream ( M 2 = 0 . 9 ). The geometry includes the

Generative Escher Meshes

open access: yesSpecial Interest Group on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques Conference Conference Papers '24
This paper proposes a fully-automatic, text-guided generative method for producing perfectly-repeating, periodic, tile-able 2D imagery, such as the one seen on floors, mosaics, ceramics, and the work of M.C. Escher. In contrast to square texture images that are seamless when tiled, our method generates non-square tilings which comprise solely of ...

In vivo evidence for glycyl radical insertion into a catalytically inactive variant of pyruvate formate‐lyase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Dimeric pyruvate formate‐lyase cleaves pyruvate using a radical‐based mechanism. G734 serves as a radical storage location, and the radical is transferred to the catalytic C419 residue. Mutation of the C418‐C419 pair causes loss of enzyme activity, but does not impede radical introduction onto G734. Therefore, cis‐ but not trans‐radical transfer occurs
