Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Lipid Nanoparticles for the Delivery of CRISPR/Cas9 Machinery to Enable Site‐Specific Integration of CFTR and Mutation‐Agnostic Disease Rescue

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are optimized to co‐deliver Cas9‐encoding messenger RNA (mRNA), a single guide RNA (sgRNA) targeting the endogenous cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene, and homologous linear double‐stranded donor DNA (ldsDNA) templates encoding CFTR.

Calculation and Analysis of Meshing Stiffness of Helical Gear Considering Installation Error

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2017
The analysis calculation of meshing stiffness of helical gear is the basis for the study of gear dynamics. According to the gear meshing principle and coordinate transformation theory the finite element model of helical gear meshing with the installation

Pentagonal 2D Altermagnets: Material Screening and Altermagnetic Tunneling Junction Device Application

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
From a database of 170 pentagonal 2D materials, 4 candidates exhibiting altermagnetic ordering are screened. Furthermore, the spin‐splitting and unconventional boundary states in the pentagonal 2D altermagnetic monolayer MnS2 are investigated. A MnS2‐based altermagnetic tunneling junction is designed and, through ab initio quantum transport simulations,

Low-order continuous finite element spaces on hybrid non-conforming hexahedral-tetrahedral meshes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This article deals with solving partial differential equations with the finite element method on hybrid non-conforming hexahedral-tetrahedral meshes. By non-conforming, we mean that a quadrangular face of a hexahedron can be connected to two triangular ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Dynamic analysis of double-helical gear system considering effect of oil film among meshing teeth

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2020
The oil film among meshing teeth is just like a spring-damping element, and it can dominate the friction and meshing characteristics of the gear pair and influence its dynamic performances further.

A continuum theory for unstructured mesh generation in two dimensions [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Aided Geometric Design, 2008
A continuum description of unstructured meshes in two dimensions, both for planar and curved surface domains, is proposed. The meshes described are those which, in the limit of an increasingly finer mesh (smaller cells), and away from irregular vertices, have ideally-shaped cells (squares or equilateral triangles), and can therefore be completely ...
