Is stomatal conductance optimized over both time and space in plant crowns? A field test in grapevine (Vitis vinifera) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
15 páginas.-- 13 figuras.-- 1 tabla.-- 64 referenciasCrown carbon gain is maximized for a given total water loss if stomatal conductance (gs) varies such that the marginal carbon product of water (∂A/∂E) remains invariant both over time and among leaves

Genome‐wide analysis of DNA methyltransferases in a model extremophyte, Schrenkiella parvula: Transcriptional dynamics during development and under salt stress

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, EarlyView.
Classification of DMTs into 4 subfamilies: two METs, three CMTs, three DRMs, and one DNMT2. The cis‐elements are associated with stress‐response, hormonal regulation, light‐response, and development. RNA‐seq analysis revealed differential expression of DMTs under NaCl stress.

Monitoring spirodiclofen resistance in female Brevipalpus yothersi (Acari: Tenuipalpidae) from citrus orchards in Southeastern Brazil

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
Spirodiclofen resistance levels in B. yothersi varied geographically across the Brazilian citrus belt, with higher resistance in the central region. Sublethal effects included reduced oviposition, increased non‐viable eggs and disrupted female reproduction.

Sphagnum physiology in the context of changing climate: emergent influences of genomics, modelling and host-microbiome interactions on understanding ecosystem function. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Peatlands harbour more than one-third of terrestrial carbon leading to the argument that the bryophytes, as major components of peatland ecosystems, store more organic carbon in soils than any other collective plant taxa. Plants of the genus Sphagnum are

Spectral response of guava leaves under infestation by Costalimaita ferruginea (coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
Coccinellidae (Coleoptera), Miridae (Hemiptera), Hemerobiidae (Neuroptera), Pentatomidae (Hemiptera), Anystidae (Acari), Erythraeidae (Acari) and spiders (Araneidae, Oxyopidae and Salticidae) fed on the invasive paropsine leaf beetles in Marlborough, New Zealand.

Coordinated changes in photosynthetic machinery performance and water relations of the xerophytic shrub Ziziphus lotus (L.) Lam. (Rhamnaceae) following soil drying [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Aim of this study was to investigate the effect of water shortage in wild jujube plants, Ziziphus lotus (L.) Lam, and how it is related to its ecological success. All leaf anatomical traits were significantly affected following soil drying.

Salt glands in exo‐recretohalophytes: Development, physiological functions, and prospects for improving crop salt tolerance

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
This review examines salt glands in exo‐recretohalophytes, in which epidermal stem cells differentiate into unicellular, bicellular, or multicellular salt glands. Salt ions are transported to the leaves via the transpiration stream and enter salt glands through symplastic and apoplastic pathways. Finally, salt glands actively secrete salt ions from the

Sensitivity of a high‐elevation rocky mountain watershed to altered climate and CO2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We explored the hydrologic and ecological responses of a headwater mountain catchment, Loch Vale watershed, to climate change and doubling of atmospheric CO2 scenarios using the Regional Hydro‐Ecological Simulation System (RHESSys).

The role of abscisic acid and water relations in drought responses of subterranean clover [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The role of water relations and abscisic acid (ABA) in the responses to drought were studied in a mediterranean forage crop, Trifolium subterraneum L. under field conditions.

The GmGT‐2F, a trihelix transcription factor, regulates seed oil content by directly activating GmAGAL transcription in soybean

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
In soybean, the trihelix transcription factor GmGT‐2F positively regulates the expression of the α‐galactosidase gene GmAGAL, thereby modulating seed oil content. The cyclophilin GmCYP2 interacts with GmGT‐2F and suppresses GmAGAL activation. Haplotype diversity analysis of GmGT‐2F, GmCYP2, and GmAGAL identified favorable haplotype combinations ...
