Cold acclimation of mesophyll conductance, bundle‐sheath conductance and leakiness in Miscanthus × giganteus [PDF]

open access: yesNew Phytologist, 2020
Summary The cold acclimations of mesophyll conductance (gm), bundle‐sheath conductance (gbs) and the CO2 concentrating mechanism (CCM) of C4 plants have not been well studied. Here, we estimated the temperature response of gm, gbs and leakiness (ϕ), the amount of concentrated CO2 that escapes the bundle‐sheath cells, for the chilling‐tolerant C4 ...

MAP3Kinase-dependent SnRK2-kinase activation is required for abscisic acid signal transduction and rapid osmotic stress response. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Abiotic stresses, including drought and salinity, trigger a complex osmotic-stress and abscisic acid (ABA) signal transduction network. The core ABA signalling components are snf1-related protein kinase2s (SnRK2s), which are activated by ABA-triggered ...

Evaluation of the effect of irrigation on biometric growth, physiological response and essential oil of Mentha spicata (L.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A field experiment was performed on spearmint (Mentha spicata L.) under different irrigation regimes in a hilly area of Southern Italy. Objectives of the study include evaluating the physiological and biometrical response of mint from plant ...

Temperature response of mesophyll conductance in cultivated and wild Oryza species with contrasting mesophyll cell wall thickness [PDF]

open access: yesPlant, Cell & Environment, 2011
ABSTRACTA critical component of photosynthetic capacity is the conductance of CO2 from intercellular airspaces to the sites of CO2 fixation in the stroma of chloroplasts, termed mesophyll conductance (gm). Leaf anatomy has been identified as an important determinant of gm.

Integrated Single‐Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics Reveal Cell‐Type‐Specific Immune Regulatory Networks in Maize Responding to Southern Corn Rust

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By integrating single‐nuclei and spatial transcriptomics, this study presents a stereoscopic landscape of maize leaf to Puccinia polysora infection. Epidermal and mesophyll cells initiate primary defenses via RLPs/RLKs and jasmonic acid signaling. Cell‐cell communication analyses further reveal the underlying the dynamics of the underlying immune ...

Effect of drought stress on yield, proline and chlorophyll contents in three chickpea cultivars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Drought stress is one of the major abiotic stresses in agriculture worldwide. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of drought stress on proline content, chlorophyll content, photosynthesis and transpiration, stomatal conductance and yield

Single‐Cell Transcriptomics Reveals FLS2‐Dependent Hypoxia Signaling and ERF13‐Mediated Transcription During flg22‐Triggered Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employs sc‐RNA sequencing, genetics, and phenotyping to systematically map the cell‐type‐specific immune responses triggered by flg22. It reveals FLS2‐dependent transcriptional reprogramming in epidermal and mesophyll cells, and uncovers crosstalk between immune and hypoxia signaling pathways.
