Exerkines, Nutrition, and Systemic Metabolism

open access: yes
The cornerstones of good health are exercise, proper food, and sound nutrition. Physical exercise should be a lifelong routine, supported by proper food selections to satisfy nutrient requirements based on energy needs, energy management, and variety to ...

Bone health in patients with inborn errors of metabolism

open access: yes, 2018
Inborn errors of metabolism encompass a wide spectrum of disorders, frequently affecting bone. The most important metabolic disorders that primarily influence calcium or phosphate balance, resulting in skeletal pathology, are hypophosphatemic rickets and

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

An application of MSIASM to Chinese exosomatic energy metabolism [PDF]

open access: yes
The methodology of Multi-Scale Integrated Analysis of Societal Metabolism (MSIASM) is applied to analyze the Chinese economy. This paper presents four tasks: (i) identifying a set of benchmarks that makes it possible to compare various characteristics of

Circadian metabolism in myeloid cells.

open access: yes
Circadian rhythms are fundamental regulators of physiological processes, including immune function. Recent insights uncover that not only lymphocytes but also myeloid cells possess intrinsic circadian clocks that govern their behavior and function ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.
