Spinal metabotropic glutamate receptor 4 is involved in neuropathic pain
NeuroReport, 2011Glutamate receptors (GluRs) play a critical role in pain pathway. Recent studies have shown that activation of spinal group III metabotropic GluRs attenuated hyperalgesia in neuropathic pain model rats. However, it is unclear which subtype of group III metabotropic GluRs is involved in neuropathic pain.

Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor 4 Expression in Colorectal Carcinoma and Its Prognostic Significance [PDF]
Abstract Purpose: Metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluR) play a variety of roles in both neuronal and nonneuronal cells. Recently, we reported that mGluR4 mediates 5-fluorouracil resistance in a human colon cancer cell line. In this study, we evaluated the nonneural expression of mGluR4 and clarified the existence of mGluR4 in normal ...

Metabotropic glutamate receptor 4 interacts with microtubule-associated protein 1B.
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2009The metabotropic glutamate receptor 4 (mGluR4) is a G-protein-coupled receptor that mediates inhibition of neurotransmitter release. Here, we used a proteomic approach to identify novel interaction partners of mGluR4 and report that the cytoplasmic C-terminal tail of mGluR4 interacts with microtubule-associated protein 1B (MAP1B).

Cultured cerebellar granule neurons die by apoptosis when switched from medium containing elevated potassium (K+) and serum to serum-free medium containing low K+. Although cell death begins at about 16 hr, commitment to death occurs within 6 hr after the lowering of K+. We have used this paradigm to examine the role of metabotropic glutamate receptor (

The metabotropic glutamate (Glu) receptors (mGluRs) play key roles in modulating excitatory neurotransmission in the brain. In all, eight subtypes have been identified and divided into three groups, group I (mGlu1,5), group II (mGlu2,3), and group III (mGlu4,6-8).

Chapter 4. The Metabotropic Glutamate Receptors
1996Publisher Summary Glutamate receptors can be broadly classified into the ionotropic glutamate receptors (iGluRs) and the metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs). This chapter discusses the metabotropic glutamate receptors, their physiological functions, and their possible pathological roles as well.

3-Carboxy-4-phosphonocyclopentane amino acids: New metabotropic glutamate receptor ligands
Amino Acids, 2003Two glutamic acid analogs (1 SR,3 RS,4 RS)- and (1 SR,3 SR,4 SR)-1-amino-4-phosphono cyclopentane-1,3-dicarboxylic acids (APCPD) have been synthesized. Pure E-(diethoxy-phosphoryl)-acrylic acid ethyl ester was obtained from ethyl propiolate, phenol and triethylphosphite. It was used as dienophile in a Diels-Alder reaction.

Molecular characterization and localization of human metabotropic glutamate receptor type 4
Molecular Brain Research, 1996Oligonucleotides of consensus sequences from rat metabotropic glutamate receptor (mGluR) genes were synthesized and used to amplify human DNA by the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Five unique human sequences homologous to these rat receptor genes were isolated including mGluR4.

4-carboxy-3-hydroxyphenylglycine, an antagonist at type I metabotropic glutamate receptors
European Journal of Pharmacology: Molecular Pharmacology, 1993The pharmacology of (DL)-4-carboxy-3-hydroxyphenylglycine was examined in baby hamster kidney cells which stably express the type I metabotropic glutamate receptor (mGluR1 alpha). DL-4-Carboxy-3-hydroxyphenylglycine dose-dependently inhibited glutamate-stimulated phosphoinositide hydrolysis in a competitive manner with a KB of 29 microM as estimated ...

The metabotropic glutamate receptor 4 is highly expressed presynaptically on thalamocortical neurons that are involved in the pathogenesis of generalized absence seizures. Mutant mice devoid of metabotropic glutamate receptor 4 are completely resistant to absence seizures induced by low doses of GABA type A receptor antagonists.
