Molecular architecture of language‐related cortical areas revealed by integrative proteomic and connectome analyses

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2025.
Wu et al. studied why certain brain areas are more connected than others. They found that areas with similar protein patterns tend to work together more closely. Additionally, they found when one area is affected such as in brain tumours, other areas with similar patterns especially contralateral regions might help.

The metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 role on motor behavior involves specific neural substrates

open access: yesMolecular Brain, 2015
BackgroundThe metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) is involved in various brain functions, including memory, cognition and motor behavior. Regarding locomotor activity, we and others have demonstrated that pharmacological antagonism of mGluR5 ...

The mRNA Translation Inhibitor Vioprolide A Prevents Inflammatory Pain‐Like Behaviour With Limited Action on Already Established Pain‐Like Behaviour in Mice

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 29, Issue 8, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Accumulating evidence indicates that pharmacological inhibition of the translational machinery is a therapeutic strategy for various diseases. However, whether inhibitors of mRNA translation might be suitable for pain therapy remains poorly understood. Here, we tested the potential analgesic effects of the natural product vioprolide

Antipsychotic profiles of TASP0443294, a novel and orally active positive allosteric modulator of metabotropic glutamate 2 receptor

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2015
Glutamatergic dysfunction has been implicated in psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia. The stimulation of metabotropic glutamate (mGlu) 2 receptor has been shown to be effective in a number of animal models of schizophrenia.

MicroRNA (miRNA) in Plasma Small Extracellular Vesicles (sEV) as Potential Early Indicators of Dairy Cow Subfertility

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Biology, Volume 4, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Pregnancy and live birth rates are commonly used metrics to define fertility in humans and animals. The impact of aberrant microRNA (miRNA) expression on fertility‐related genes represents a significant knowledge gap in understanding post‐transcriptional regulatory mechanisms associated with reproductive dysfunction.

Silent Allosteric Modulation of mGluR5 Maintains Glutamate Signaling while Rescuing Alzheimer’s Mouse Phenotypes

open access: yesCell Reports, 2017
Metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) has been implicated in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology. We sought to understand whether mGluR5’s role in AD requires glutamate signaling.

Central Pattern Generators in Spinal Cord Injury: Mechanisms, Modulation, and Therapeutic Strategies for Motor Recovery

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 8, Issue 3, September 2025.
This study explores the role of Central Pattern Generators (CPGs) in locomotor recovery after spinal cord injury (SCI). It examines CPG organization, function, and modulation through amino acids, biogenic amines, and acetylcholine. Therapeutic strategies, including pharmacological, electrical, and optogenetic approaches, are reviewed, alongside current

Dopamine D2 antagonist-induced striatal Nur77 expression requires activation of mGlu5 receptors by cortical afferents

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2012
Dopamine D2 receptor antagonists modulate gene transcription in the striatum. However, the molecular mechanism underlying this effect remains elusive. Here we used the expression of Nur77, a transcription factor of the orphan nuclear receptor family, as ...

Recent Developments in the Optical Control of Adrenergic Signaling

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, Volume 45, Issue 5, Page 1307-1322, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Adrenoceptors (ARs) play a vital role in various physiological processes and are key therapeutic targets. The advent of optical control techniques, including optogenetics and photopharmacology, offers the potential to modulate AR signaling with precise temporal and spatial resolution. In this review, we summarize the latest advancements in the
