Boxer’s Knuckle

open access: yesJournal of the Belgian Society of Radiology, 2021
Teaching Point: Persistent metacarpophalangeal joint pain after clenched-fist trauma with an unremarkable conventional radiography justifies further examination with dynamic ultrasound for detecting extensor hood injuries.

Theoretical Limits of Joint Detection and Estimation for Radar Target [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
This paper proposes a joint detection and estimation (JDE) scheme based on mutual information for the radar work, whose goal is to choose the true one between target existent and target absence, and to estimate the unknown distance parameter when the target is existent.

Forelimb joints contribute to locomotor performance in reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) by maintaining stability and storing energy [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2020
Reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) have lengthy seasonal migrations on land and their feet possess excellent locomotor characteristics that can adapt to complex terrains.

Surface replacement arthroplasty of the proximal interphalangeal and metacarpophalangeal joints: The current state

open access: yesIndian Journal of Plastic Surgery, 2011
Surface replacement arthroplasty for proximal interphalangeal joint and metacarpophalangeal joints are becoming popular. Low profile, anatomically designed implants limit the amount of bone removed but need preservation of the collateral ligaments ...

Synovial Chondromatosis of the Metacarpophalangeal Joint

open access: yesJournal of Hand Surgery, 2002
We describe a case of synovial chondromatosis in a metacarpophalangeal joint with invasion of local structures. The degree of local tissue involvement was not demonstrated on the preoperative MRI scans. This case highlights that synovial chondromatosis can be invasive and that even the best preoperative imaging may not demonstrate this.

Simultaneous topology and fastener layout optimization of assemblies considering joint failure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
This paper provides a method for the simultaneous topology optimization of parts and their corresponding joint locations in an assembly. Therein, the joint locations are not discrete and predefined, but continuously movable. The underlying coupling equations allow for connecting dissimilar meshes and avoid the need for remeshing when joint locations ...

Uncertainty Relations for Joint Localizability and Joint Measurability in Finite-Dimensional Systems [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Math. Phys. 52, 072105 (2011), 2011
Two quantities quantifying uncertainty relations are examined. In J.Math.Phys. 48, 082103 (2007), Busch and Pearson investigated the limitation on joint localizability and joint measurement of position and momentum by introducing overall width and error bar width.

Sustainable Sensors Prepared by Environmentally Benign Means for Improving the Environmental Footprint of Wearable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A stretchable and bendable resistance sensor made predominantly from sustainable and biodegradable components is conductive courtesy a water soluble self‐doped conjugated polymer. The wearable sensor measures micromovements by changes in its resistance and it can track both human movement and phonation. Abstract Sustainable electronic devices offer the
