UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence Solution-Based Sensing Platform [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluorescence, 2004
In recent years our laboratories have reported the favorable effects for fluorophores placed in close proximity to surface immobilized silver nanostructures. These include; greater quantum yields, reduced lifetimes (increased photostability) and directional emission. However, while these findings are likely to find multifarious applications for surface

Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence from Nanoparticulate Zinc Films [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry C, 2008
A detailed study of metal-enhanced fluorescence (MEF) from fluorophores in the blue-to-red spectral region placed in close proximity to thermally evaporated zinc nanostructured films is reported. The zinc nanostructured films were deposited onto glass microscope slides as individual particles and were 1?10 nm in height and 20?100 nm in width, as ...

Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...

Sensing of ascorbic acid and Hg (II) ion using quinone-capped (oxidized 2-hydroxy benzaldehyde) silver hydrosol via metal-enhanced fluorescence mechanism

open access: yesDiscover Applied Sciences
Though analytes are sensed efficiently using nanoparticles as sensing platforms, the employment of metal-enhanced fluorescence (MEF) in this regard is quite new.

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.
