Analytical model for metal–insulator–metal mesh waveguide architectures

Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2012
Metal–insulator–metal (MIM) waveguide mesh structures utilize X-junctions as power distribution elements to create interference and feedback effects, thereby providing rich device functionality. We present a generalized analytical model for MIM mesh structures by incorporating a modified characteristic impedance model for MIM junctions into the ...

Resonant metal-mesh bandpass filters for the far infrared

Applied Optics, 1994
The spectral performance of freestanding resonant metal-mesh bandpass filters operating with center frequencies ranging from 585 GHz to 2.1 THz is presented. These filters are made up of a 12-µm-thick copper film with an array of cross-shaped apertures that fill a circular area with a 50-mm diameter.

Superoleophobic Surfaces Obtained via Hierarchical Metallic Meshes

Langmuir, 2016
Hierarchical metallic surfaces demonstrating pronounced water and oil repellence are reported. The surfaces were manufactured with stainless-steel microporous meshes, which were etched with perfluorononanoic acid. As a result, a hierarchical relief was created, characterized by roughness at micro- and sub-microscales.

Use of Dynamic Meshes for Transient Metal Temperature Prediction

Volume 4: Heat Transfer, Parts A and B, 2012
This paper describes the thermal analysis conducted on a three-dimensional model of a stator well contained within a turbine assembly. A methodology has been developed for coupled fluid-solid modelling accounting for the boundary deflections predicted by the structural analysis.

On the mesh motion for ALE modeling of metal forming processes

Finite Elements in Analysis and Design, 2002
Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian finite element method is being increasingly used for simulation of metal-forming operations, due to its capability to combine the features of both Lagrangian and Eulerian approaches in a single analysis. An important consideration in applying this approach is an algorithm which decides upon the motion of all degrees of ...

Near-field effects in multilayer inductive metal meshes

Applied Optics, 2002
The transmittance of inductive single-layer and multilayer cross-shaped metal meshes has been calculated with the Micro-Stripes software program. The effect of symmetric and asymmetric alignment of the crosses of one mesh with respect to another was studied and compared with transmission line theory, which presents the nonaligned case.

Variable Metal Mesh Coupler for Far Infrared Lasers

Applied Optics, 1970
In a far infrared molecular laser the traditional pierced output mirror has been replaced by an infrared interference filter, consisting of two metal mesh reflector grids. By adjusting the spacing between the two parallel grids, the reflectance of the filter can be varied. Theory and experiment of this variable reflector are presented.

Cryogenic metal mesh bandpass filters for submillimeter astronomy

Applied Optics, 1984
The design and performance of a tunable double-half-wave bandpass filter centered at 286 microns (Delta lambda/lambda = 0.16) and operating at cryogenic temperatures (for astronomy applications) are presented. The operating principle is explained, and the fabrication of the device, which comprises two identical mutually coupled Fabry-Perot filters with
