Design and synthesis of metal oxide–polymer composites

open access: yes, 2022
Recently, metal oxide-polymer composites have received significant attention in many industrial fields. The combination of metal oxides (commonly used TiO2, ZnO, Fe3O4, and Al2O3) with a polymer matrix governs to produce high-performance metal oxide ...

Model Free Traveling Wave Based Fault Location Method for Series Compensated Transmission Line

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Locating fault position in a series compensated transmission line is a difficult task due to the non-linear characteristics of the metal-oxide varistor which is present in the protection system of the compensator. In this paper, a model-free two-terminal

Measuring the energy handling capability of metal oxide varistors [PDF]

open access: yes16th International Conference and Exhibition on Electricity Distribution (CIRED 2001), 2001
Metal oxide varistors are widely used in many power electronics circuits to protect against transient over voltages. Certain applications are very demanding on the energy handling capability of the varistors. This paper gives an overview of the failure modes of ZnO varistors and investigates their characteristics when subjected to repetitive current ...

Chemical Control of Space Charge Barriers and Grain Boundary Resistances in Polycrystalline Ionic Conductors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 74, 14 September 2026.
Grain boundaries (GBs) in polycrystalline materials often block charge transport and drive degradation. Using Gd‐doped CeO2 as a model electrolyte used in fuel/electrolysis cells, we developed a core‐shell infiltration method to selectively modify GB chemistry and space charge potential, achieving orders‐of‐magnitude ionic conductivity changes.

Two basic ways to realise DC circuit breakers

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
As a key element of the DC grid, the technology of DC circuit breakers (DCCBs) still have difficulty to be widely used due to its large cost and volume. This paper studies the basic principle and its realisation methods for DCCBs.

Influence of UHV GIL access on transient recovery voltage of circuit breaker

open access: yes电力工程技术, 2022
The access of ultra high voltage (UHV) gas-insulated transmission line (GIL) affects both the transient recovery voltage (TRV) amplitude and the rate of rise of TRV (RRRV) of circuit breakers, which may endanger the breaking capacity of circuit breakers ...

Aging Effects on PTCR Ceramics: SEM and C‐AFM Analysis of Electrical Conductivity and Domain Structures

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology, Volume 23, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT This study examines the impact of aging on the electrical and structural properties of positive temperature coefficient of resistance (PTCR) ceramics. The presented study introduces a correlative scanning electron microscopy (SEM)/conductive atomic force microscopy (C‐AFM) approach enabling repeated, site‐specific characterization of ...
