Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.

Theoretical Study of Trans-metalation Process in Palladium-Catalyzed Borylation of Iodobenzene with Diboron

open access: yes, 2016
Trans-metalation process in the palladium-catalyzed borylation of iodobenzene with diboron was theoretically investigated with the DFT method. Palladium(II) hydroxo phenyl complex, Pd(OH)(Ph)(PH3)2, and the fluoro analogue easily undergo the trans ...

Probing the Reactivity of Functionalized Surfaces by Porphyrin Metalation

open access: yes, 2016
The presence of N- and Cl-induced superstructures is shown to drastically alter the physicochemical properties of the Cu(001) substrate. We present coherent evidence that N- and Cl-c(2x2) superstructures on Cu(001) decisively impact the metalation ...

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Regioselective Functionalization of 7‐Azaindole by Controlled Annular Isomerism: The Directed Metalation‐Group Dance

open access: yes, 2019
The regioselective functionalization of 7‐azaindole by controlled annular directed metalation group isomerism is reported. The N‐7 carbamoyl azaindoles 2a–b undergo regioselective metalation and electrophile quench to furnish C‐6 substituted derivatives ...

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control
