The catalytic power of magnesium chelatase: a benchmark for the AAA(+) ATPases [PDF]
In the first committed reaction of chlorophyll biosynthesis, magnesium chelatase couples ATP hydrolysis to the thermodynamically unfavorable Mg(2+) insertion into protoporphyrin IX (ΔGº' of ca. 25-33 kJ/mol).

Water‐soluble metallophthalocyanines self‐assemble onto the surface of carbon black via π–π interactions, creating highly dispersed and electronically coupled MPcTs/CB, which enables selective CO2‐to‐CO conversion in aqueous media with near‐quantitative Faradaic efficiency and remarkable stability. Optimized flow‐cell operation delivers up to 500 mA cm−

Direct measurement of local oxygen concentration in the bone marrow of live animals [PDF]
Characterizing how the microenvironment, or niche, regulates stem cell activity is central to understanding stem cell biology and to developing strategies for therapeutic manipulation of stem cells1. Low oxygen tension (hypoxia) is commonly thought to be

Evidence For An Unusual Kinetic Phenomenon In The Metallation Of Porphyrins [PDF]
Reaction of copper(II) with water soluble porphyrins (H₂porph) in the presence of ethylenediamine shows an unusual and so far unreported kinetic phenomenon that can be explained in terms of supramolecular assembly formation apparently involving all ...

Active Site Determination of Heterogenized Molecular Electrocatalysts
Here, we develop a methodology to examine the active site availability of immobilized transition‐metal molecular complexes via cyclic voltammetry. By using varying loadings of the molecular complex FeTPP physically immobilized onto Vulcan Carbon, we show the influences of FeTPP/VC ratios on the total number of active sites.

STM Studies of Synthetic Peptide Monolayers
We have used scanning probe microscopy to investigate self-assembled monolayers of chemically synthesized peptides. We find that the peptides form a dense uniform monolayer, above which is found a sparse additional layer.
