Foams‐Induced Hierarchy for Multiscale Photonics on Flat Substrates: Lasing and Mie‐Bragg Diffraction as Case Studies.

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Ordered and disordered complex configurations displaying two levels of functionality can be fabricated using a simple self‐assembly method involving the foaming and casting of suspensions containing monodisperse spheres on unpatterned flat substrates.

Flexible Production of Spherical Powders of Ti‐V‐Zr‐Nb‐Mo‐Hf‐Ta‐W Refractory High‐Entropy Alloys by Plasma‐Assisted Centrifugal Atomization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
In this work, spherical powders of refractory Ti‐V‐Zr‐Nb‐Mo‐Hf‐Ta‐W high‐entropy alloys (R‐HEAs) have been fabricated in a single step by plasma‐assisted centrifugal atomization. Loss of the heaviest elements in the composition is observed only at rotational speeds higher than 13 000 rpm due to solid‐solid centrifugal separation.

A MEMS Electromagnetic Vibration Energy Harvester with Monolithically Integrated NdFeB Micromagnets

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
50µm thick sputtered arrays of NdFeB micromagnets are directly integrated into a functional MEMS in‐plane electromagnetic vibration energy harvester. A combination of analytical modeling and numerical simulations guided the design of the magnet arrays and ad‐hoc coil, to produce a high transduction factor.

Magnetic Force‐Induced Self‐Assembly and Flip‐Chip Alignment on Electroplated Multilayer Solder with Tailored Melting Points

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates fluidic self‐assembly and self‐alignment of flip‐chips using a magnetic field for agitation and orientation. Pb‐free solder bumps with tailored transformation imprinted melting points enable selective capturing on low‐melting solder in water. After capturing, final alignment is achieved through magnetic forces.

An analysis of the turnover index evolution in metallurgy during 2000-2012, the case of Romania

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2014
The economic crisis has left its mark on metallurgical activities, which have declined significantly with lasting implications. The magnitude of the economic crisis and its influence on industries on long-term trends is different.

Driving Micro‐Objects Using Optical Force due to Fluorescence Emission From Molecules

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Emission of fluorescence from a micro‐object in a specific direction is expected to generate an optical force driving the object in the opposite direction of the emission, like a rocket. To demonstrate this ‘photon‐driven micro‐rocket’, we prepared dye‐doped polymer micro‐object (PMO) one surface of which was covered with metallic film; the PMO ...

Influence of an induction furnace’s electric parameters on mass transfer velocity in the liquid phase

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2012
This article is an analysis of the results obtained under the tests aimed at determination of the infl uence exerted by the current frequency of an induction furnace on the mass transfer coeffi cient for liquid metallic phase.
