Extreme-angle broadband metamaterial lens

Nature Materials, 2009
For centuries, the conventional approach to lens design has been to grind the surfaces of a uniform material in such a manner as to sculpt the paths that rays of light follow as they transit through the interfaces. Refractive lenses formed by this procedure of bending the surfaces can be of extremely high quality, but are nevertheless limited by ...

Metamaterial lens for beam steering

2016 10th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), 2016
A metamaterial-based lens, calculated using transformation optics concept, is designed using electric-LC resonators. A planar microstrip antenna source is used as transverse electric polarized wave launcher for the lens. Both the far field radiation patterns and the near-field distributions have been measured to experimentally demonstrate the beam ...

Isotropic metamaterial electromagnetic lens

Physics Letters A, 2004
Several authors have recently exhibited the focusing activity in the domain of so-called electromagnetic lenses. These lenses are parallel-plate layers of metamaterials whose properties can be described in terms of negative index of refraction. Known works on this subject refer to 2D structures.

Slimming the fishnet metamaterial lens

The 8th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2014), 2014
A zoning technique is applied to reduce the thickness of a fishnet metamaterial lens from 35 mm to 8 mm without causing any deterioration in the performance. The lens operates in the NNZ regime (n = -0.25), has an experimental focal length of 46.5 mm and a depth of focus of 17.8 mm.
