Flat lens made of metamaterials
SPIE Proceedings, 2009Metamaterials have negative refractive index and EM waves bend negatively. This negative bending allows a variety of applications from microwaves to optical frequencies. Negative refraction can be exploited to make novel lenses having flat surfaces and focus electromagnetic waves as well as produce a real 3-D image. These flat lenses do not have unique

Possibilities of the coherent scanning tomography with negative-index metamaterial lens are studied. Such lens (a slab of negative refractive index material) has the power to focus the source field into a sounded media with dielectric inhomogeneities.

Focusing surface waves with an inhomogeneous metamaterial lens
Applied Optics, 2009We propose a new type of surface wave lens that is made of a circular in-plane inhomogeneous metamaterial slab and numerically demonstrate its capability to focus surface waves at optical frequencies. This approach can achieve a smaller focal spot size than the previously demonstrated Ag plasmonic lens.

Obstacle Detector with Metamaterial Luneburg Lens
2019 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2019We design and fabricate an obstacle detector based on an acoustic Luneburg Lens. Similar to its optical counterpart, the gradient-index phononic crystal Luneburg Lens can focus sound waves to a point. The sample lens is fabricated by three dimensional printing and the performance of sound focusing is validated through finite element simulation and ...

Thin metamaterial lens for directive radiation
2011 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (APSURSI), 2011A study is presented on the wave collimation effects of a low-index uniaxial metamaterial slab with the optic axis parallel to the direction of wave propagation. A thin metamaterial lens of such a medium is shown to achieve highly directive radiation.

Lens research on the basis of the combined metamaterial
2017 Radiation and Scattering of Electromagnetic Waves (RSEMW), 2017The antenna lens is considered on the basis of the combined metamaterial representing the structure of the open ring resonators and a planar structure on the basis of frame elements. Numerical and experimental studies have been carried out and the efficiency of using metamaterials as an antenna lens has been shown to improve the directional properties ...

A truly hyperbolic elastic metamaterial lens
Applied Physics Letters, 2014Sub-wavelength imaging is possible if metamaterial lenses realizing hyperbolic or elliptic Equi-Frequency Contours (EFCs) are used. Theoretically, lenses exhibiting hyperbolic EFCs allow imaging with unlimited resolution, but only metamaterials of elliptic EFCs producing limited resolution have been so far realized in elastic field.
