Müllerianosis with intestinal metaplasia: a case report [PDF]

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Pathology, 2015
Müllerianosis or Müllerian choristomas are developmental alterations that consist of an organoid structure with normal Müllerian tissue. We present a 62-year-old patient diagnosed on ultrasound scanning and on CT scan of bilateral ovarian cysts. During surgery, a left ovarian cyst and retroperitoneal tumor (adhered to sigmoid serous surface) were found.

Multi‐omics biomarkers for intestinal infection and inflammation in inflammatory bowel disease: Current evidence, translational challenges, and diagnostic opportunities

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Prospective multi‐site cohorts, multi‐omics profiling, and computational analysis may help identify biomarker patterns across clinical settings in IBD and superimposed infections. With further mechanistic and clinical validation, these signals could support the development of practical multi‐analyte tools for more precise diagnosis and management ...

TFF3 initiates gastric intestinal metaplasia by activating JAK2 and STAT3 under high salt conditions

open access: yesScientific Reports
The mechanism underlying the role of trefoil factor family 3 (TFF3) in intestinal metaplasia remains unclear. This study reveals the molecular mechanism by which TFF3, in the process of gastric mucosal epithelial cell intestinal metaplasia (IM) induced ...

A case of Helicobacter pylori-negative early gastric adenocarcinoma with gastrointestinal phenotype

open access: yesEndoscopy International Open, 2021
A 40-year-old man with slightly depressed (0-IIc) type gastric cancer of the pyloric anterior gastric area underwent pre-operative screening for tetralogy of Fallot and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and was tested for Helicobacter pylori ...

Longitudinal Changes in the Serum Pepsinogen I/II Ratio With Progression of Gastric Atrophy

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
Serum pepsinogen (PG) I/II ratio decreased with progression of gastric mucosal atrophy and showed consistent intra‐individual changes over time. In a large cohort with repeated endoscopic evaluations, longitudinal declines in the PG I/II ratio paralleled worsening atrophic stages.

High prevalence of ultra‐short celiac disease in children with low anti‐tissue transglutaminase immunoglobulin A levels: The risk of misdiagnosis without bulb biopsy

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Despite recent advances in diagnostics, celiac disease (CD) diagnosis remains challenging. Ultra‐short celiac disease (USCD) has been proposed as a distinct phenotype characterized by villous atrophy confined to the duodenal bulb, positive celiac serology, and clinical features consistent with CD.

Intestinal Metaplasia of the Stomach

open access: yesVideo Journal and Encyclopedia of GI Endoscopy, 2013
AbstractIntestinal metaplasia (IM) of the stomach is associated with a very small increased risk of developing gastric cancer. Endoscopic surveillance has been proposed and advocated for populations at risk. Risk factors for IM include Helicobacter pylori infection, high salt intake, smoking, alcohol consumption, and chronic bile reflux.
