Angiomatoid Metastatic Melanoma

Dermatologic Surgery, 2004
Two patients with metastatic melanoma, both with the same bizarre morphology and an unusual, comparatively benign course, are described: a 50-year-old female who more than 20 years after a primary melanoma on the right upper arm, Clark level III, maximum tumor thickness of 1.1 mm, developed multiple metastases in the deep soft tissue and a 62-year-old ...

Metastatic Melanoma

Pathology Case Reviews, 2015
Abstract Transformation into melanoma is thought to occur due to the accumulation of mutations in growth-regulating genes, the loss of adhesion receptors, and the increase in autocrine and paracrine growth factors; all of which contribute to uncontrolled proliferation promoting the survival of these abnormal cells.

Metastatic Uveal Melanoma

Ophthalmology Clinics of North America, 2005
Despite achieving great accuracy in correctly diagnosing uveal melanoma in the United States, mortality owing to this tumor has remained unchanged over a period of 25 years from 1973 to 1997. In general, the survival with metastatic uveal melanoma is poor, with a median survival of less than 6 months.

Inflammatory metastatic melanoma

Journal of Cutaneous Pathology, 1999
An 87‐year‐old woman developed erythema, induration and tenderness of the skin overlying each breast. Metastatic melanoma: Chemotherapy

Seminars in Oncology, 2002
The incidence of cutaneous melanoma has been rapidly increasing, with an estimate of 47,700 new cases diagnosed in 2000 in the United States. In the early phase of its natural history, melanoma is cured in most cases by surgery, but once the metastatic phase develops, it is almost always fatal.

Targeting Metastatic Melanoma

Annual Review of Medicine, 2012
Metastatic melanoma has historically been one of the most treatment-refractory types of cancer. Recent headway has been made in understanding the genetic underpinnings of this cancer. A subset of oncogenic events is amenable to targeting with drug therapy.
