Advanced Cloaking Metasurfaces for Wire Antennas

2021 XXXIVth General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI GASS), 2021
We provide a review of our results on the design of mantle cloaking devices for antenna applications with an emphasis on our recent investigations in designing advanced cloaking metasurfaces. It is shown how such cloaking devices allow increasing the degrees of freedom in the design of conventional antennas with a significant enhancement of their ...

Metallic Metasurface Antennas for Space

12th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2018), 2018
In metasurface (MTS) antennas, a surface-wave (SW) is gradually radiated by modulating an equivalent reactance tensor in the aperture plane. Such modulation results in the (-1) indexed Floquet mode entering the visible region, thus becoming a leaky-wave (LW) mode with curvilinear phase-contour.

Liquid Metasurface Antennas

2020 IEEE 17th International Conference on Smart Communities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT, IoT and AI (HONET), 2020
This paper describes a novel design of a fully reconfigurable modulated metasurface (MTS) antenna. Current proposed MTS antennas offer limited radiation pattern reconfiguration, which is a crucial design tuning capability for antennas compatible with next-generation communication systems.

Metasurface Antennas

2017
This chapter reports design and analysis methods for planar antennas based on modulated metasurfaces (MTSs). These antennas transform a surface wave (SW) into a leaky wave by means of the interaction with a MTS having a spatially modulated equivalent impedance.

Efficiency of Metasurface Antennas

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2017
Different types of efficiencies are introduced for metasurface (MTS) antennas based on single point-source excitation: 1) the feed efficiency $\varepsilon _{\mathrm{ feed}} $ is the power delivered by the feed to surface wave (SW) over the input power; 2) the tapering efficiency $\varepsilon _{\mathrm{ tap}} $ quantifies the deviation with ...
